Yearly Post - Report on Craft/Guest Room Progress

My last post was in November of 2011.  I was saying that I was going to try and get better at this.  Guess what didn't happen?  So, I'm not going to make any empty promises this time.  It looks like I do yearly posts; not daily, not weekly and not monthly.  But it is what it is.  I'm excited though.  Im in the middle of getting a guest/craft room put together.  My son went into the Army and I'm going to have a craft room finally.  My hubby and daughter are building a murphy bed for the room; which will usually be up, unless we have guest(s) at our house.  It's queen size bed with regular mattress, so it will be comfy too.  But I finally will have a place that when I am working on a project, I can close the door and not have to put everything away, as I normally use our dining room table for crafting.  Then when time allows, go back to working on project.  I have a job and work, so don't get lots of time to craft.  I have a project that I started and can't wait to get back to working on it.  So, it's been fun figuring out colors of my walls.  They are painted now.  Hubby installed a ceiling fan that has rattan type blades.  It's really cute.  The theme of the room is going to be tropical type design.  We are going to stencil some palm trees and such on the walls.  I will post pictures once it's done, but it may be a month or two.  Not real fast around here when doing things.  Well, wanted to log what's going on.  Take care all!

hello from me

Well, I haven't been much of a blogger huh? But I'm hoping to get better at this. I've been organizing my craft area with my daughter. She's been producing scarves for a family member that's going thru chemo/radiation. I mailed them off today, but am hoping she took pictures first. Maybe I can post them this weekend. I'm really beat though, as it's month end at work and I worked 12 hours today. Nite all.

Two days before hernia surgery.....

Well, I'm trying to get some things done. I have surgery on Monday and have to be there at 6 a.m. I'm a little scared, but I also know that I'm in God's hands and that brings comfort.

I also am trying to get some things done before my family comes in. They are giving me a couple of days of recovery and then are showing up to help my husband and mom with me. It's not that serious, but I'm scared and glad to know they are coming. My mom's birthday is on July 24th. Not sure if I will feel up to celebrating it. Can't wait until Tuesday, so I will know how things went.

I'm also trying to decide what to put up on my wall. We painted and now I just have to come up with saying.

Well take care! See you later!

Wow! Has it been 9 months???!!!

I can't believe it's been over 9 months since my first attempt at blogging. I wish I was better at this and timely too. I just don't quite know what to say, but am going to put that aside for the moment and just type for now. I'm going to be having a hernia surgery on July 20th and then will be recovering. Hopefully, I will be able to craft some during recovery time. Hopefully, I will feel good enough to craft while recovering. I've looked it up online and supposedly will be off work one to two weeks, but can't lift or do heavy work for over 3 weeks. I've had hernia surgery twice before, but always something else was going on at the same time, so I'm not sure, plus it's been over 8 years and I can't remember what it felt like. They are doing it laproscopic surgery. I'm sure all will be well. Prayers/good thoughts very much welcome.
I downloaded a not so good picture of a project that we did at my last stamping club. It's so cool and will hold gift cards insided. I can't wait to make more of them. My friend, Robin, taught the class and taught us other items also, but this was my favorite. Sad part is that it was our last monthly meeting together. My friend needs to make time for her other endevours. I'm so grateful to have been part of the fun of these monthly meetings for about two years. She's a very generouse person and so extremely creative. I'm in awe of her. I don't know how she does so much in life. But, I know I will see her and hopefully will take some of her other classes.
Well, this it it for today. Hope all are doing well. I really need to do some stuff around here. Take care!

Well, this was my first journal that I made using my new Cricut that my brother and his wife gave to my granddaughter, daughter and myself. I had wanted to start a gratitude journal. The owner of the company that I work with had suggested that people do this, so I started one this year. It's been fun. I just list three things from that day that I'm grateful for. So far, the list is of simple things, but it's a work in progress, so we will see how it moves along. I had so much fun with this! My daughter helped me and made one herself. Hers is going to be a photo book.

I can't believe how generous my brother and his wife is. A Cricut machine was like on the same wish list as the Rolls Royce is on. Wanted it when I seen it and never thought I'd get one. I love it too. I have problems thinking of things to make with it though, because I don't just want to make a card. My friends love them, but then I think, oh they will be tossed out and so much work. Of course, my friends say they don't toss them, but still, you can only have so much stuff hanging around. Then I think, I don't toss out the things people make me. Vicious cycle of thought. lol So, I've decided to just try and shut that part of the brain up. Now, I still tend to think of trying to do things that are journals, notebooks, home decorating items, office items, etc. I'm thinking today, I'm going to make a small notebook for keeping tracking of my spending and for keeping track of my food. Two separate ones. These areas are problem areas for me, so I'm going to try and work on them also.

I wish my brother and his wife could know just how much joy, love, gratitude, and fun their gift has meant to me. It also has brought us closer, as his wife is getting one too. We've had so much fun learning together and giving each other ideas.

Well, this is my attempt at blogging. I know it won't be every day thing for me, but it's a start. Enjoy yourself today! I wish more of my friends would come by and craft with me.
